BFHL is an architectural and planning firm that has specialized in healthcare projects since our inception in 1980. With two complementary principals who have worked together for the past 15 years, our leadership and direction is defined by a unique combination of both technical and planning expertise. BFHL stands apart with big firm systems and processes while maintaining small firm responsiveness and senior level involvement.

We are employee-owned and operate in an extremely open environment. This environment ensures that everyone, from our architects to our accounting manager and marketing coordinator know how projects are going. We are constantly learning and improving together at every level of the organization. This approach also means that every project is delivered by a team that knows the projects and can answer questions when you have them - from principals to technical staff.

Our passion is creating healing environments for both patients and staff that have their foundation in efficient, long-term and flexible planning. We thrive with complex projects that are technically challenging and are at the forefront of new technologies in medicine, building the first digital Cath lab in the US and recently the first robotic packaging pharmacy in the state of California.
